The project was for Treescape to plant an Acer saccharum (Sugar Maple) in a raised garden area in a residence in Toorak, Melbourne Australia. The only access was from a grassed tennis court and onto a raised grassed area over columns approximately 7 metres above the tennis court, and a further 35 metres to the planting hole. It was decided a crane was not feasible.
A decision was made to engage the use a helicopter to land on the tennis court and attach a lifting sling to the Acer saccharum. All went well however note the helicopter coming back as the hole for the tree was slightly dug too deep and It took some time to get the attention of the pilot’s crew to understand we needed to bring the helicopter back to re-lift the tree, at which time the Treescape crew added more soil so the tree could be planted at the correct height.
All’s well that ends well.
